There were many languages in existence before Genesis 11.
Ref: Genesis 10:5, 20 ,31. .....But suddenly chapter 11verse1 says ,
"And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech."
It indicates either Bible contradicts itself , or , chapters mis-numbered.
I suggest the following , assuming Bible chapters are not chronological .
In the beginning ,there was earth. Then came the big flood. Then God started creation .
Just read this in the following order.

ஆதியாகமம் 7 :24
பூமியானது ஒழுங்கின்மையும் வெறுமையுமாய் இருந்தது. ஆழத்தின்மேல் இருள் இருந்தது. தேவ ஆவியானவர் ஜலத்தின்மேல் அசைவாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்.

There may be a flood , but Nova's story is complete imagination . If we assume that Nova's story is true , then we are said to be decedents of Nova , not Adam . I doubt first man is Adam . GOD may have created man in another planet , world , galaxy , or in other part of the universe.
Final thought : If Genesis chapters 10, 11 are not in chronological order , as I mentioned above , then chances are that , the entire Bible chapters may have numbered erratically .
